ArdhKumbhmela 2019

This February, take a journey to India's largest spiritual gathering with Wandermile! With great pleasure, we announce ‘Ardh Kumbmela photo tour’- a trip to experience the sacred Ardh Kumbhmela in Allahabad and explore the holy city of Banaras.
Ardh Kumbh Mela, which draws participants from all corners of the world is a celebration of bliss and divinity. Recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, Kumbh Mela is held at four different places – Haridwar, Ujjain, Allahabad and Nashik, and switches location every 3 years. The Ardh (meaning Half) Kumbh Mela takes place every 6 years and is held in Allahabad this year at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence point of 3 rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
Chaotic, diverse and incredibly colourful, Kumbh Mela is indeed a photographer's delight. In this trip, you get to stay in luxury tents and photograph a variety of subjects including ash smeared Sadhus chanting prayers, spectacular rituals and an ocean of people flocking together to witness one of the world’s oldest and grandest religious festivals.
We’ll also visit Varanasi or Banaras, one of the oldest continually inhabited places on earth, where spirituality reigns supreme. Comprising of more than 2000 temples and mentioned as Kashi in ancient scriptures, Varanasi gives us an opportunity to glimpse into Sanatana Dharma, the essence of Indian culture. Varanasi takes its name from Varuna and Assi, two tributaries of River Ganga, on the banks of which the city is located. A city where devotion, life and even death is celebrated, Varanasi is an experience beyond imagination.
